In Search of The Best HIIT App

If you followed me for any length of time, you know I’m a big proponent of HIIT training. One of the best tools you can get for training is HIIT App that works as an interval timer to help you meet your training goals.

I want to share a new app that I am currently using and it is very impressive! Prior to finding this jem, I was using Gymboss for years, as it was based on the famous Gymboss interval trainer (shown below).

GymBoss: The Issues

This was my first HIIT App that I tried on my phone. It worked, but there were frustrations I was constantly running into. This eventually drove me to look for an alternative.

First and foremost, it was causing me to receive warnings to check background apps for draining the battery. I like to do several Tabata HIIT sessions throughout the day; leaving the app running between those sessions is convenient for when I need to come back to perform another session. However, leaving it running wasn’t worth the battery drain. I would just exit and come back when I was actually going to perform the routine. Of course, this required extra steps like selecting the routine again.

However, the deal breaker for me was the constant adjustment to the volume level of music. There were plenty of times where an alert would play, lowering the volume on the music I was listening to. I had no issue with that, rather that it would never readjust the volume to the original level! The volume level was significantly lower than what it was before. And that friends, would really mess with the intensity level I was trying to achieve on harder routines. I never witnessed the app restore the volume back to the prior level once it ran into the issue. The only way I could resolve to restore my music volume was to exit the application.

HiitMi: The Solution

Thus my search began and I’m so glad I came across this one! This HIIT App is Hiitmi HIIT Timer and is available on the Google play store. URL follows below: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hiitmi&hl=en_US. Besides having an attractive UI, it records statistics for days and duration of your workouts.

This is the most complete app that I’ve found to date. I really like the user interface and the overall user experience afforded by this application. The app provides the ability to create custom timers where you can further define your work and rest duration with the number of intervals. You can add multiple cycles and also set how long you need to warm up, cool down or breaks/rest between cycles.

There is also a cool statistics feature that will show you what workout you performed and the date and time you did the workout. It can also capture details/feedback on the workout. For instance if you want to jot down the intensity level and how challenging was it to complete the training.

HiitMi Features

▪️ No ads (ad free) and no limit in number of created timers
▪️ Easy and fun to use
▪️ Create your own workout and share it with your friends
▪️ Hiitmi works with your favorite music player (Spotify, etc.)
▪️ Energetic and motivating female voice
▪️ Beep sounds for noisy environments

Give it a try and let me know your thoughts! I’m really digging it so far. I will post a more detailed review after spending more time with this HIIT App. You can find out more from the App’s website

I love working out...if I don't get my workout in, I really feel a difference in the way the rest of the day plays out. I'm a physical culture buff, especially the classics, love working out with primarily using bodyweight and isometric exercises. For workouts where I need to add resistance, I prefer kettlebells, sandbags, along with other old-school methods. It sure beats throwing money away on the latest gadgets. Love video games, swimming and playing guitar, when not doing something on the computer.
